On Saturday, December 16, 2017, student and community volunteers built 18 new garden beds at Legends Academy.
The school will use this garden as a living classroom, incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) curriculum in their classes and using the garden to teach kids about local food, healthy living and nutrition education. Students will grow a wide variety of food, including collards, lettuce, swiss chard, kale, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and herbs.
The food will be used in the Legends Academy cafeteria when preparing meals for the students.
