Site Location and Characteristics
The Orlando House is located on a site in East Central Park, an older established neighborhood situated just outside downtown Orlando.  The typical infill lot measuring 52 ft by 135 ft , with a notable slope and three mature Live Oak trees has provided some design challenges. Reflecting environmentally sensitive design practices, the house and rear detached garage have been fitted to the site, thereby safeguarding the lot’s natural characteristics. The healthy landscape design emphasizes vegetation that is both drought and shade tolerant that requires minimal fertilizer and pesticide. A tree and plant preservation plan as well as soil erosion and drainage guidelines, have also been developed to further protect the site’s integrity.
