Owner Occupied Rehabilitation
Green Works Housing
The Housing and Community Development
Department is actively incorporating a high standard for
sustainability in our community. All new projects are achieving
standards that will encourage the development of environmentally
conscious, energy efficient, clean, safe, and durable homes. Homes
that meet current building requirements use less electricity and
water, provide the occupants with a healthy indoor air quality, and
reduce the necessity for excessive maintenance, which add up to long
term savings for affordable housing.

Reconstruction Project: 1025 W. Anderson
Street, Construction Completed in July of 2008. Home received LEED
“Platinum Certification” from the U. S. Green Building Counsel and
is the first affordable LEED “Certified Platinum” home in the State
of Florida.
The Housing and Community Development
Department has recently identified and incorporated sustainable
building practices into the specifications for work performed on all
housing rehabilitation projects.
