The Orlando Civil Service Board was created by an Act of Florida Legislature to provide certain regulatory, personnel and administrative functions for the members of the police and fire departments.

The board’s duties include:

  • Certifying promotional lists
  • Approving individual advances in rank or promotion
  • Ruling on appeals for non-disciplinary matters

The Civil Service Board has six regular scheduled meetings per year. These meetings normally occur every other month.
