The City of Orlando is sharing Hughey Avenue lane closure information on behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation. We are committed to working with our state and regional partners to ensure proper transportation options are available during the length of the I-4 Ultimate Improvement Project.

Closure Location & Timeframe:
The Florida Department of Transportation is closing all lanes of traffic on Hughey Avenue from Church Street to South Street beginning as soon as 12 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017.
This closure is long-term and is expected to be in place until late 2018.
Closure Details:
- All lanes of traffic on Hughey Avenue from Church Street to South Street will be closed for an extended amount of time.
- The intersections of Church Street and South Street will remain open for vehicles and pedestrians to travel across Hughey Avenue on these roadways.
Additional Closures for Events:
Before, during and after events at the Amway Center, in addition to this closure from Church Street to South Street, Hughey Avenue will also close from Central Boulevard to Church Street and only allow access for patron drop off and local businesses traffic.
Immediately following events, the northbound lane on Division Avenue will also close, allowing southbound traffic only on Division Avenue.
Guests should note that when coming to events at the Amway Center, this closure will directly impact traffic flow around the area. Guests should plan their routes ahead and allow for additional time to navigate through the area.

Recommend Alternative Routes & Transportation
In an effort to alleviate potential traffic congestion during the full lane closure, the City recommends utilizing alternate routes to avoid the area if possible.
Coming from the East on I-4:
Exit at Colonial Drive (84), take a left onto Colonial Drive, then a right onto Orange Avenue taking you southbound into Downtown.
Coming from the North on Hughey Avenue:
Central Boulevard is recommended as an alternate route for southbound access around Downtown. Two alternate routes using Central Boulevard are as follows –
- Turn left onto Central Boulevard, then right onto Orange Avenue to access Orange Avenue southbound into Downtown.
- Turn right onto Central Boulevard, then left onto Division Avenue, then left onto South Street to access Orange Avenue or continue south on Division toward Gore Street.
Alternative Modes of Transportation:
During construction, the City encourages the use of alternative modes of transportation to head into and get around Downtown, including SunRail, car share, Juice Bike Share, LYNX, LYMMO, carpooling and adjusting schedules when possible to avoid traffic delays.
