Israel

The Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando holds a yearly trip to Kiryat Motzkin, Israel.  The Jewish Agency for Israel and Enterprise Florida helped in establishing this relationship.  Recently a yearly youth trip program was developed by the Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando, where high school juniors and seniors stay with host families for a few days and form friendships with other Israelis their age.  This city is generally upper-middle class and has some development opportunities.

West Bank

Bethlehem, located in West Bank, is related to Orlando through a twinning agreement signed in 2001.

In November, 2007 Zahi W. Khouri met with Mayor Dyer’s staff regarding improving relations between Bethlehem, Palestine and Orlando.  Because of Bethlehem’s political situation, economic decline is severely damaging the community.  Because Bethlehem’s economy is very dependent on tourism, Mr. Khouri hopes to use Orlando’s thriving industry as an example. Possible Rosen student exchange and digital media connection were discussed.
