Mayor Buddy Dyer Welcomes You!
Welcome to the City of Orlando! We’re proud to be internationally known as the world’s most popular vacation destination that welcomes more than 59 million visitors each year. And, while Orlando may be most well known for its theme parks, our community has much more to offer.
Orlando is recognized for hospitality and classic Florida charm, but our City is also the economic, cultural and social hub of one of the most diverse and fastest growing regions in the United States.
A center for innovation and collaboration that empowers entrepreneurs, Orlando’s economy is thriving, with established industry sectors including life sciences, digital media and modeling, simulation and training. Orlando consistently ranks as one of the nation’s best and least expensive places to launch a small business and Orlando’s unemployment numbers are well below the state and national average.
Orlando’s downtown is the heart of Central Florida and is shared by everyone who calls the region home. With a mix of residential high-rises and bungalow homes, Downtown Orlando offers unique options for urban living. Downtown boasts vibrant dining and nightlife options with a growing arts scene and live music performances hosted almost every night of the week.
A sports and entertainment district is emerging in Downtown Orlando. This year a new performing arts center and reconstructed Citrus Bowl will open and our community recently broke ground on a soccer-specific stadium home to the newest MLS franchise, the Orlando City Lions. Our sports and entertainment district stretches 1.5 miles through the heart of our urban core and is anchored by our existing Amway Center, home to the NBA Orlando Magic, ECHL Orlando Solar Bears and AFL Orlando Predators and a future mixed-use convention center complex.
Orlando’s city center is surrounded by strong neighborhoods with brick, tree-lined streets, complemented by eclectic Main Street commercial districts that offer residents and visitors a unique mix of locally-owned restaurants and shops.
As new residents and visitors flow to Orlando, we’re making it easier to get around Central Florida with public transit options like our 31-mile SunRail commuter rail line, our fare-free Downtown bus circulator LYMMO, carshare and bikeshare programs.
The foundation for Orlando’s progress and our future prosperity is residents who are active and engaged in the health and vitality of their City, along with a City government that is focused on keeping people safe, maintaining a superior quality of life and creating the careers of tomorrow in a City people are proud to call home.
Whether you’ve visited CityofOrlando.net for City services, are looking to open or relocate a business to Orlando or are simply exploring everything our City has to offer, we are here to help you and deliver the top-notch hospitality and service for which Orlando is known.
It’s a privilege to serve as Mayor of one of the best cities in the United States.
