Our region is buzzing about what we’ve accomplished together.
We’ve opened the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, reconstructed the Orlando Citrus Bowl, secured a Major League Soccer franchise and broke ground on a stadium, added eight iconic art sculptures Downtown, kicked-off SunRail and started planning a Downtown UCF/Valencia Campus.
But, the strength of our City is more than shiny buildings. It’s about being named one of the top 10 cities of the future, being one of the nation’s happiest cities in which to work and being the friendliest city in Florida for small business.
This didn’t happen by accident. Together as a community, we developed a shared vision for our City and focused on creating partnerships to achieve this vision.
Today, I delivered my State of the City address celebrating the unprecedented successes our community has achieved through strong collaboration with our residents, our business community, our faith-based organizations, our arts organizations, our tourism industry, our educational institutions and other local governments. I outlined our collective vision for Orlando’s future which ensures that we continue to generate jobs, become the most sustainable city in the nation, keep our community safe, make it easier to get around, increase quality of life and end homelessness. An overview of our accomplishments and key focus areas, along with our vision for the future, is on our website.
We live in a special city, in a special time and it’s because of people like you who are helping to shape Orlando’s promising future. We have much more to accomplish together.
It is an honor to serve as your mayor.
