Each year, the Mayor’s Advisory Council hosts a number of events to honor our nation’s veterans. The City of Orlando’s Veterans Day Parade is our signature event and includes 100 units consisting of local veterans’ organizations, members of the active military, bands, floats and more all coming together to pay tribute to those who have fought for our freedoms. The 2014 Veterans Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday, November 8.
We also host the annual POW-MIA Recognition Ceremony and pledge to never forget our prisoners of war or those still missing in action. Each year we pay tribute to them with a ceremony in the rotunda of City Hall. The 2014 POW-MIA Recognition Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, September 26.
