Orlando is home to thousands of military veterans and members of the active military returning from deployment overseas. You may see their faces every day and not know the sacrifices they have made. For this reason and many more, we must continue to identify, honor and serve the needs of all our veterans.
The Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Council has a proud history of serving our community through education and outreach. This dedicated group of volunteers, representing more than 20 veterans’ organizations, puts together quality events that raise awareness of significant milestones, holidays and veteran related topics.
For the past decade, this advisory group was chaired by Paul Hay. All of us who knew Paul understood his passion for advocating on behalf of veterans. He was a true champion who worked tirelessly to promote and support all veterans throughout the region. Building upon Paul’s legacy, Michael Waldrop continued the Veterans Advisory Council’s important work as Chairman from 2011 – 2018. Today the Council is led by Priscila Kalagian, a US Army veteran who is deeply passionate about our local community.
I encourage you to learn more about the council and find a way you can support their efforts to honor the sacrifices of those who have served or are currently serving our country.
