Following 16 years of service to District 5 and the City of Orlando, Commissioner Daisy W. Lynum retired on June 2. The second-longest serving Commissioner in our City’s history, Commissioner Lynum provided outstanding citizenship and leadership since joining the City Council in 1998.
Commissioner Lynum fought hard for her district throughout her time of service. Her many accomplishments include leadership in revitalizing the Parramore Heritage Community, helping bring the Florida A&M College of Law to Orlando and the development of the BLUEPRINT initiative, which has created more than 2,600 jobs for Parramore residents and minority and women-owned businesses.
I am proud to have served alongside Commissioner Lynum as we provided the votes needed to move forward many of the important projects that have made Orlando a world-class city. Earlier this month, the City Council honored her as a Commissioner Emeritus for her service to District 5 and the citizens of Orlando.
