Proclamation Guidelines

City of Orlando proclamations may be issued for:

  • Public awareness events held in the City of Orlando
  • Charitable fundraising campaigns and events
  • Arts and cultural celebrations
  • Business openings and anniversaries
  • Special honors, including significant achievements

Letters of recognition may be issued in place of proclamations for congratulatory events, including:

  • Retirements
  • Birthdays
  • Anniversaries
  • Individual or group awards
  • Family and class reunions
  • Conferences

Requests must include:

  • Contact person’s first and last name, address and telephone number
  • A brief summary and background of the event or organization
  • The name and date, week, month to be proclaimed
  • Draft text for the proclamation, including 4-6 “WHEREAS” clauses
  • Whether the proclamation should be mailed or picked up at City Hall

All requests must be made at least 15 business days in advance of the date the document is needed
