On Saturday, March 1, I invite you to head to Downtown Orlando for the eighth annual Blues B-Q. The free concert attracts blues fans from across the state each year.
Next weekend’s Blues B-Q will feature Denise LaSalle, the “Queen of the Blues,” and The Lee Boys. Denise LaSalle has been performing since 1967. She has headlined numerous festivals and was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2011.
The Lee Boys, a funk and gospel band, draw their inspiration from artists such as Jimi Hendrix and Robert Randolph. They are veteran artists and have performed at many prestigious events, including the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the Chicago Blues Festival and Bonaroo. Other national and local artists will also perform.
Food is a big part of Blues B-Q and Bubbalou’s BBQ, Caribbean Sunshine Bakery, Serena’s BBQ, on-site VIP catering, Cave Inn BBQ and Smokey Jay’s BBQ will have delicious barbecue available for purchase.
Blues B-Q will be held on the corner of Garland Avenue and Central Boulevard from 4-10 p.m. For more information, visit cityoforlando.net/bluesbq.
