Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 4 Commissioner Patty Sheehan to Work-Along with the Orlando Fire Department to Install Smoke Alarms for City Residents
WHAT:
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 4 Commissioner Patty Sheehan will work-along with the Orlando Fire Department to distribute and install free smoke detectors in resident homes in the Coytown neighborhood. They will go door-to-door to ensure homes in the area have a working smoke alarms.
The event is meant to highlight the upcoming Fire Prevention Week, October 4-10. Throughout the month of September and October, the Orlando Fire Department will visit neighborhoods in each City District to distribute and install the free smoke alarms.
WHY:
Smoke alarms are the most effective early warning devices available in the event of a fire. Having a smoke alarm in the home cuts the chance of dying from a house fire nearly in half.
