District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill Appointed to the National League of Cities Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee
February 9, 2016 – ORLANDO, FL – On January 26, 2016, National League of Cities President Ralph Becker appointed District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill to the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee.
Commissioner Hill will play a vital role serving on this committee as they work to develop policy positions on issues involving crime prevention, corrections, substance abuse, municipal fire policy, juvenile justice, disaster preparedness and relief, homeland security, domestic terrorism, court systems and gun control. The committee is led by Chairman Anthony Anderson, Deputy Mayor of SeaTac, Washington; and two Vice Chairs, Barbara Cleland, Councilmember of Aurora, Colorado; and Joel Price, Mayor of Thousand Oaks, California.
“I am honored to serve on this national committee, as one of my key focuses is enhancing safety in Orlando and keeping crime down,” said District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill. “This appointment will allow me to further share the City’s efforts with other municipalities and learn about new ones as we work towards keeping America safe.”
The Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee is one of seven National League of Cities advocacy committees and is made up of 42 representatives from 20 states. The committee’s first meeting will be this March in Washington, D.C.
The National League of Cities is the nation’s oldest and largest organization representing municipal government. The league works with 49 state municipal leagues, representing more than 19,000 cities, villages, and towns.
