When 10 degree weather up
north brought visitors to balmy Orlando, they stayed at the Wyoming
Hotel for the winter. The Orlando Remembered committee obtained an
original china place setting from the hotel, a spoon and the 1952
Christmas dinner menu, all mounted in the memorabilia case in the lobby
of the Orange County Courthouse which is on the site of the once stately
manor.
Furnishing your home was a
pleasure when you shopped at Yon's Furniture Store, which had the
largest chair in the nation on the roof, and then going on to compare
prices at Myrick's Furniture Store up the street. While heading north,
pleasant fragr ances
came from the House of Flower followed by delightful aromas from Enzor's
Lunchroom and Pharmacy at the southeast corner of Orange Avenue and
Amelia Street. The Orlando Remembered display has an original Enzor's
menu and newspaper article about the family enterprise as well as a
replica of the salt and pepper shakers shown in the story. Also included
in the case is a wedding photo of Herman and Amelia Hillman who lived on
E. Amelia St. that was named in her honor.
The Orlando Remembered
display is located in the lobby of the Orange County Courthouse, 425 N.
Orange Ave., in historic downtown Orlando.
