Division
Description and Functions:
Permitting
Services is
responsible for coordinating plans review
for construction, renovations,
alterations and development. Services
provided include preapplication meetings,
plans submittal assistance, development
and plans review, variance procedures,
inspection services, certificates of
occupancy and business licensing.
Staff is challenged to assist clients
with meeting professional and City codes
to ensure the health, safety and welfare
of citizens.
Customer
Services
Issue all
permits.
Provide
comprehensive information and assistance
to Permitting Services customers in order to ensure movement
through the system in a timely manner.
Provide
unified review of all permit
applications, plans and specifications
for new construction, additions,
alterations and renovations for
conformance with construction and land
development codes. Coordinate all plan
review for Permitting Services.
Maintain
complete and accurate files of all
building permits and other related
information as required by State
Statutes.
Review and
maintain all building construction codes
and their adopting ordinances.
Administer
the City's Transportation Impact Fee and
Orange County School Impact Fee programs.
Administer
the City's Business Tax Receipt
program.
Administer
the City's Sewer Benefit Fee program.
Administer
the Concurrency Management program.
Development Review Services
Coordinate
all commercial plans review for Permitting Services.
Provide
Public Works, City Planning, Transportation and Fire plans
review in a coordinated, timely manner.
Administer
technical and City codes and policies
while reviewing proposed development and
construction projects.
Participate
on behalf of Public Works, City Planning, Transportation
and Fire Departments as
members of the Technical Review Committee
(TRC) by producing feasibility reports, attending TRC and Municipal Planning
Board meetings.
Field
Inspection Services
Protect the
health, safety, and welfare of the
citizens of Orlando by uniform
enforcement of engineering, building,
electrical, mechanical, plumbing, gas,
accessibility, fire and security codes.
Inspect all
construction for compliance with all
applicable building and related codes as
adopted by Orlando City Council.
