Transportation Planning is responsible
for all professional activities necessary for the planning and
coordination of improvements to the City’s major road network,
public transportation, airports, bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
The section
supports the City’s Growth Management Plan by ensuring that new
developments and/or redevelopments are consistent with
transportation goals, objectives and policies.
Transportation
Planning maintains and updates computer models consistent with the
Florida Standard Urban Transportation Modeling Structure (FSUTMS).
FSUTMS is a travel-forecasting model that allows us to simulate
future traffic and transit conditions. The model is an essential
tool for all transportation planning analyses, concurrency
management, trip allocation, and other transportation related
issues.
Transportation
Planning developed a Trip Allocation Program to implement state
concurrency requirements for road performance. Information regarding
the Trip Allocation Program can be found in Chapter 59 of the City
Code.
