
Historic Preservation Board
The powers of the Historic
Preservation Board (HPB) include:
-
review of
projects, historic districts and sites;
-
the
recognition of the significance of the buildings and areas
by means of plaques and
signs;
-
the
publication of studies, research, surveys, brochures and
other publication materials about the history and
architecture of Orlando;
-
the making
of studies, surveys, and research relevant to the built
environment of the City of Orlando; and
-
educational
programs relevant to the history of the built environment
of the City.
The
HPB
is
an advisory board to City Council comprised of citizen members
who voluntarily and without compensation devote their time and
talents to promote and preserve the City’s historic
districts and local landmarks. The HPB consists of 9 members,
appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council,
who
have expertise in the building, design, law, and development
disciplines, and includes at least one resident of both the
Lake Cherokee and Lake Copeland Historic Districts.
