Sustainable Communities Designation Agreement

July 8, 1997

Bases for Designation. The Department designates the City as a Sustainable Community in response to the City's Sustainable Community Application submitted on August 23, 1996 and the criteria set forth in Section 163.3244(3), F.S., and the terms of this agreement. The City of Orlando is at the center of one of the most rapidly developing areas in Florida and provides the opportunity to address diverse planning issues including, but not limited to, economic development, urban infill and redevelopment, mass transit, and new urbanism approaches to planning for future development of currently rural areas.
