Gayfeather is an excellent choice for dry conditions.  It is a showy plant that blooms from June to November, and is a good cutting flower.

Propagation
They reseed themselves.

Liatris puncutata is a member of the aster plant family, which has 19,000 species.  This native flowering plant is related to cosmos, sunflower, zinnia, vegetables such as lettuce, artichokes and a hay fever sufferers favorite, ragweed.
