An excellent groundcover that is relatively fast growing.  Young plants do not grown out evenly, but will fill in after two growing seasons.  Landscape uses range from groundcovers to trees.

Not all of the species and cultivars are suited for the Central Florida climate.  When purchasing, inquire if the plant has been tested for this climate.

Fun Facts
In the middle ages people thought that juniper smoke gave protection against contagious diseases, such as the plague and leprosy.  More recently, the American Indians believe that the tea of juniper twigs cured stomach aches and colds.  Modern use of Juniper is as an ornamental plant and using the berries to flavor gin.
