Landscape Uses
Southern Red Cedar makes an excellent wind break, screen and wildlife cover.  If using the tree as a windbreak, stagger the plant in double lines.

Special Notes
The wood is extremely aromatic and repels insects.  The tree makes an excellent living Christmas tree.

Fun Facts
Long ago parents would burn juniper during childbirth in the belief that its smoke prevented the fairies from substituting a changeling for their new born baby.  In the middle ages, people believed that juniper smoke gave protection against the plague and leprosy.
