Event:          OPERATION POSITIVE DIRECTION
                              A Youth Mentoring Program

Summary

The Orlando Police Department has established a new youth mentoring program, Operation Positive Direction. Students have been identified from middle and high schools throughout the city. The program will include mentoring, tutoring, community service, goal setting and incentives for success. We have been fortunate to receive some funding from community businesses to seed our program.

Operation Positive Direction will kickoff on May 17, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. Students will participate in a community service project. They will be painting 3 houses in Orlando, which are owned by senior citizens. We are introducing the students to "giving back to the community".

The addresses of the houses that will be painted are:
• 910 W. Robinson Street
• 409 Gilman Circle
• 923 S. Rio Grande.

Operation Positive Direction has partnered with WFTV-9, Orlando Magic, Walt Disney World, Ace Hardware, Target, Collis Roofing, Chick-Fil-A and Panda Express.
