BATTLE OF THE BADGES
RESULTS
The first annual Battle of the Badges is OVER and it was a big success!! The
final score is 2,053 for the Sheriff's Deputies and 1,540 for the Police
Officers. The Orlando Police Department and the St. Cloud Police Department had
a great last day. OPD collected 22 units and St. Cloud PD collected 37 units.
That's a great way to wrap up the Battle. The Orange, Osceola and Seminole
County Sheriff's offices are the big winners in the 2009 Battle of the Badges.
We will be making a presentation to the Sheriff's offices Wednesday, September
16 at 10AM at Florida's Blood Centers headquarters, 8669 Commodity Circle.
Congratulations to the "Green" team. Remember that the true winners are the
lives saved in Central Florida.
We are also grateful to the Co-Chairs of the Battle of the Badges, Orlando
Police Chief Val Demings and Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings. The first
couple of law enforcement rallied the troops and made this blood drive such a
success.
The total of 3,593 units given in the “Battle”, amounts to over 10,000 lives
impacted by these donations!! Every unit of blood has impacted the lives of
people right here in Central Florida- cancer patients who need platelet
transfusions, people who may have had emergency surgery or who could have been a
trauma patient. Or it could have been someone having routine surgery. Thank you
all for being Local Heroes Saving Lives!
