Do I need a Vehicle For Hire Permit?
Any
Vehicle-for-Hire operated, caused to be operated, or driven with the intent to
pick-up passengers, originate one-way transportation, or provide return service
for a round-trip transportation within the jurisdictional limits of or upon the
public streets of the City of Orlando shall be subject to the regulations,
restrictions and conditions as set forth in Chapter 55 (Vehicles for Hire) of
the Orlando City Code.
"Vehicle for Hire" means any passenger vehicle engaged in the transportation of
persons from or entirely within the municipal limits of Orlando with the intent
to receive direct or indirect compensation for providing such transportation.
The following vehicles are exempt from the provisions of this Chapter:
Ambulances

Hearses

Passenger vehicles seating more than twenty (20) passengers

Passenger vehicles owned, operated, leased, or controlled by a governmental
agency

Shuttle services owned and operated directly by a hotel or motel for
transportation limited to registered guests thereof

Exclusive ride-sharing vehicles as defined in Sections 341.031(9), Florida
Statutes

Transportation services as outlined in Transportation Disadvantaged FSS
427.011

Charter Service licensed by State as Seller of Travel

Provides transportation as an ancillary part of a primary scheduled service or
tour
Penalty:
1st citation: $220.00 fine
2nd citation within one year: $420.00 fine
3rd citation within one year: Mandatory Court Appearance
