The Orlando Police Department has established a youth mentoring program,
Operation Positive Direction. This program offers mentoring, tutoring, community
service projects, goal setting and incentives for success to community children
facing a variety of challenges.
Participating students have been selected from middle and high schools
throughout the City of Orlando. The Orlando Police Department has designated one
officer who will work with each of the participating students and monitor their

19th Annual GWN Dragon Boat Challenge
Operation Positive Direction will be participating in the 19th Annual GWN
Dragon Boat Challenge in Toronto, Canada on September 6-8, 2013.

In 1994, GWN took the challenge of developing this event
into an annual large scale fundraising event for Canadian charities. The Great
White North Dragon Boat Challenge Presented by CIBC continues to grow both in
scope and funds raised. To date, this event has raised over $1,000,000 for

charitable events, GWN through its solely owned and operated signature event,
the GWN Dragon Boat Challenge Presented by CIBC is approaching 1 million dollars
raised for a wide variety of Canadian charities including Children's Wish
Foundation, Canadian Living Foundation, Breakfast for Learning, Canadian Spinal
Research Organization, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Variety Club, the
Children's Charity and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Entering its 18th year,
attracting thousands of elite and recreational athletes, the GWN Dragon Boat
Challenge Presented by CIBC is highly regarded as one of North America's premier
dragon boat racing events.
Walgreens Orlando International Dragon Boat Festival
The Dueling Dragons of Orlando Dragon Boat Team (a.k.a., "Cops and Kids") is
an unlikely partnership between at-risk teens and officers from the Orlando
Police Department who have joined together to become a one-of-a-kind,
competitive racing team. The youth come from the Orlando Police Department
Operation Positive Direction Youth Mentoring Program, Parramore Kidz Zone, and
the Families, Parks and Recreation Department. The Cops and Kids both
participate as volunteers. This is the Dueling Dragons' third year competing,
primarily in the Walgreens International Dragon Boat Festival held at Downtown
Disney each Fall. This year's event will take place on October 18-19, 2013.
Make Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk-Run / Lake Eola Park
On October 19, 2012, Operation Positive Direction will be participating in
the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk/Run. This event will support
the journey to end breast cancer, raise breast cancer awareness, and honor
breast cancer survivors.

Operation Positive Direction 2013 Meet and Greet
On October 29, 2013, Operation Positive Direction will meet at Jones High
School to welcome our new incoming participants. The seminar will also educate
our youth about essential life skills, leadership development and educational
opportunities. Our mission is to redirect our youth by giving them the tools to
change their lives for a greater plan.
Central Florida 6th Annual UNCF 5K Run/Walk / Millenia
On November 2, 2013 we will participate in the 6th Annual UNCF Run/Walk at
the Millenia Mall. Registration starts at 7:00 a.m.

The UNCF Central Florida 5K Run/Walk for Education
provides corporate sponsors, community organizations, and friends/family with an
excellent opportunity to change the lives of deserving college students by
raising much needed scholarship dollars.
UNCF plays a critical role in enabling more than 55,000
students each year to obtain college degrees and in providing operational
support to our 38 member Historically Black Colleges and Universities. With your
help we can help raise funds to reduce financial barriers to college.
Operation Positive Direction 2013 Thanksgiving
Sharathon Event / Senior Citizen Complex
On November 25, 2013 Operation Positive Direction will join together to
share some time through arts and crafts with our senior citizen residents at
Conway Lakes Health and Rehabilitation Center. The Operation Positive Direction
Team wants to show our seniors that we care. Desserts will be prepared and
brought in for the Nursing Home staff members.
Toys for Tots Program / Channel 9 Business Complex
Operation Positive Direction will join together to support the Toys for Tots
Program at Channel 9 Business Complex, December of 2013.

Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program:
The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through
a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope. The U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys
for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and
December each year, and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to less
Operation Positive Direction 2013 Share and Care Event
/ Lake Lorna Doone Senior Citizen Complex
In December of 2013 we will come together and share time with the senior
citizens at Lake Lorna Doone Apartment Complex. The Cats in the House Band and
Friends will provide musical entertainment for this event. Food and drinks will
be served for our seniors.
