K-9 Unit


K9 a

  • Started in 1966
  • Currently owns 14 dual-purpose canines
  • Seven are for narcotics detection and seven are for bomb detection
  • All canines are utilized to augment primary patrol operations
  • Canines are used to track and apprehend violent felony offenders
  • German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds and Belgian Malinois are utilized
  • There are two squads: One sergeant and six officers per squad
