Rules and Regulations
COURTESY is the watchword of
Rule No. 1 -
Obedience, discipline and loyalty are the first requisites of Officers of the
Rule No. 2 - Keeping on Beats
Strict compliance of District and Beat boundaries are required by Officers,
unless in case of necessity. Men must stay on their beats unless permission is
granted from the proper officer to leave that Beat.
Rule No. 3 - Standard Uniforms
Uniforms must be standard. All men must wear the prescribed uniform adopted by
Rule No. 4 - Smoking on Duty
No smoking on Beats or Districts while in uniform on duty.
Rule No. 5 - Coats
Uniform coats must be kept buttoned during months that coats are worn.
Rule No. 6 - Appearance
Officers must at all times be neat and clean in appearance.
Rule No. 7 - Sobriety
Sobriety is demanded and enforced among members of this Department. The
frequenting of places known to be handling intoxicating liquors is sufficient
cause for dismissal. This rule applies at all times, whether on or off duty.

Rule No. 8 - Profane or Vulgar Language
Profane or vulgar language is prohibited among members of this Department while
on duty, and is a bad habit at all times.
Rule No. 9 - Arguments
Political and Religious arguments are strictly forbidden in this department.
Rule No. 10 - Application to Duty
To warrant promotion, a member of this Department must first show ability which
is judged by conforming to orders, promptness and efficiency
