Sergeant Michele Smith

Michele Smith joined the Orlando Police Department on 1/6/92 as a Community
Service Officer. On 07/24/94, Michele became a sworn officer. Her assignments as
a police officer included working in Patrol as a field-training officer and
riding bicycles in the West Neighborhood Patrol Unit. She served as a Property
Detective, Crimes Against Children Detective, and Assault and Battery Detective
in the Criminal Investigations Division. Michele was also assigned as the Patrol
Bureau Aide to the Deputy Chief of Patrol. On 6/5/05, Michele was promoted to
Sergeant and currently serves the Golf sector on midnight shift.
Sergeant Smith graduated from the University of Central Florida with a
bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. Sergeant Smith is happily married to an
Orlando Police Department detective and has a 5-year old son. Her hobbies
include traveling, cooking, University of Florida football, and reading.
When asked what she would like to pass on to other females interested in
pursuing a career in law enforcement, Sgt. Smith stated, "Have the desire to
make a difference in someone's life, keep a positive attitude, and be true to
who you are".
