Mounted Patrol


  • The Orlando Police Mounted Unit was founded in 1982Mounted a 2015
  • The Orlando Police Equestrian Facility houses up to eight horses
  • The unit has several breeds of horse, including Thoroughbreds, Percherons, and crossbreeds
  • Staffed by two full-time sworn personnel and two civilian grooms
  • Supplemented by 15-20 part-time, cross-trained officers
  • Utilized for patrol functions, crowd control, special events, and community outreach
  • Volunteer opportunities available with the Mounted Unit – volunteer application required
