Event: PUBLIC SAFETY SUMMIT-Media Invitation

SUMMARY:
Orlando City Commissioner Phil Diamond, District 1, and Orlando City Commissioner Patty Sheehan, District 4, will host a Public Safety Summit on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at the Beardall Senior Center, located at Gore Street and Delaney Avenue, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. This summit is in response to neighborhood concerns related to public safety issues.

Orlando Police Chief Michael McCoy and other representatives of the Orlando Police Department will address public safety, crime issues and crime prevention. At the end of the presentation, citizens will have the opportunity to ask questions of the Commissioners and OPD.

“I think it is very important to be responsive to the needs and concerns of our residents, especially when it comes to public safety,” Commissioner Sheehan stated. Commissioner Diamond said, “Public safety is the city’s most vital responsibility. It is important that citizens have access to the most current public safety information.”
In addition to hearing from the commissioners and police chief, citizens will also learn how to get involved with crime prevention activities including neighborhood watch, Citizens Police Academy, Senior Citizens Police Academy and free OPD residential and commercial security surveys.
