Copper Theft Task Force Meeting

SUMMARY

On September 14th at 9:00 a.m., the Orlando Police Department/Investigations Division hosted a task force meeting in the Orlando Police Headquarters Auditorium regarding the influx of copper thefts throughout the state. All area agencies were invited to this meeting and were encouraged to bring any intelligence information on incidents or suspects they may have developed. This was an excellent opportunity for all local law enforcement to join forces in an effort to identify individuals who steal copper and to identify recyclers who don't hesitate to buy from them.

Attending the meeting were over 60 representatives from law enforcement agencies across the state along with corporate security representatives from various corporations who have and continue to be victims of copper thefts. Copper theft continues to be an ongoing problem throughout the state and the nation and we are committed to identifying those responsible and making them accountable for their actions. We continue to ask the community to help in our efforts by contacting the Orlando Police Department as it relates to any suspicious activity they observe.

If anyone has any information please contact the Orlando Police Department or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS. Callers may remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward up to $1000.
