SUMMARY: The Orlando Police Department will recognize the courageous, heroic and outstanding efforts of officers, citizens and volunteers in Orlando. Their efforts and dedication have saved lives, taken criminals off of our streets, and made Orlando a safer City Beautiful.

In addition to other awards, Chief McCoy will be recognizing officers for performing life saving CPR on an unconscious victim and entering a burning building to evacuate residents.

Officer Al Gordon will be posthumously awarded the Purple Heart for his heroic actions in attempting to stop an armed robbery in progress resulting in his tragic death on October 4, 2007.

The Homicide Units of OPD and OCSO will be recognized for their outstanding efforts in helping to apprehend the two criminals responsible for Officer Al Gordon’s murder.
