This year’s tornadoes left many Orlando Communities devastated and in dire need of special assistance. The Orlando Police Department’s Special Operations Division Motors Unit assisted DaimlerChrysler with security and transportation of food, supplies and cash donations to local relief organizations.

To show their appreciation and continued support, DaimlerChrysler Corporation and local Orlando Dodge dealerships donated a new 2007 Dodge Ram, valued at approximately $40,000 to the Orlando Police Department. The Orlando Police Department accepted a new Dodge Ram pickup truck on Wednesday May 30, 2007.

The truck will be used mainly to assist the Orlando Police Department’s Special Operations Division with the movement of large trailers, motorcycles and other heavy equipment. The truck will be particularly helpful in events of severe weather such as hurricanes and tornadoes. The new Ram has already been utilized to transport Police Department personnel and equipment to Washington, DC for The National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial.
The donated truck will be a great asset to the Orlando Police Department and shows an enormous level of support for both the Orlando Police Department and the Orlando Community.
