SUMMARY
Local business owners have a new method of protecting their businesses from
criminals. The Orlando Police Department’s Business Watch
offers business owners crime prevention techniques and teaches them to better
detect criminal activity.
Business owners are alerted about suspicious persons and potential shoplifters.
It also provides training and information for employees that can help prevent
crime and possible injury. Employees and owners are taught what to do in the
case of a robbery and how to handle thefts, shoplifting, forgery, credit card
fraud, counterfeit money and other situations. Business Watch also
provides businesses with contact information to use in the case of an emergency.
Business watch helps to form alliances and support groups with other businesses,
which promotes sharing of information. The benefits of joining Business Watch
are countless.
Business Watch works to decrease crime because it shows business
owner’s dedication to safe neighborhoods. This dedication along with the
practicing of crime prevention techniques results in safer businesses and
workplaces. These safer businesses attract customers and can increase profits!
