    Neighborhood Watch Outreach

Lynx Bus

 SUMMARY:

Neighborhood Watch is a nation-wide program that works to empower community residents. Neighborhood Watch helps to organize and train citizens to be additional eyes and ears of the Orlando Police Department.

Neighborhood Watch works on the basic premise of home and residential security with responsibilities shared by law enforcement and residents. The Orlando Police Department offers:

·         Free home security surveys

·         Electric engravers so that residents can participate in Operation Identification.  Operation I.D. discourages theft and help law enforcement agencies identify and return stolen property.

·         Newsletters, crime prevention literature

·         Block captain training and special events for all watch members

In order to encourage residents to participate in our Neighborhood Watch Program, we have secured crime prevention grant funds which enabled us to purchase an “advertising wrap” for a Lynx bus.

The “advertising wrap” will be on this bus from November 8, 2008 until mid-January 2009. If no one buys this bus for advertisement it will continue.  We are making another request for grant funds to do the same advertising wrap in Spanish.
