Event: 47th Citizens Police Academy

SUMMARY:

The Citizens Police Academy is a 12-week course offered twice a year. The Citizens Police Academy gives Central Florida Residents a better understanding of the field of law enforcement and the role officers. The Citizen Police Academy includes speakers from and/or field trips to the following police divisions:
• Criminal Investigations
o Homicide Unit
o Sex Crimes Unit
o Auto Theft Unit
• Criminal Law
• Crime Scene Technicians
• Drug Enforcement
• Gang Unit
• Hostage Negotiations
• Internal Affairs
• Training Unit
• School Resource Officers
• SWAT
• Ride Along with OPD Officer

Applicants must be law-abiding citizens living in the Central Florida Area and must be at least 18 years of age.

Applications may be obtained by contacting OPD at 407-246-2461 and can be sent via standard mail. Applications must be received at OPD by TUESDAY MARCH 18, 2008. Completed applications along with a copy of your driver’s license or ID should be mailed to:
