Citizens Police Academy
SUMMARY:
The Citizens Police Academy is a 12-week course offered twice a year. The
Citizens Police Academy gives Central Florida Residents a better understanding
of the field of law enforcement and the role officers. The Citizen Police
Academy includes speakers from and/or field trips to the following police
divisions:
• Criminal Investigations
o Homicide Unit
o Sex Crimes Unit
o Auto Theft Unit
• Criminal Law
• Crime Scene Technicians
• Drug Enforcement
• Gang Unit
• Hostage Negotiations
• Internal Affairs
• Training Unit
• School Resource Officers
• SWAT
• Ride Along with OPD Officer
Applicants must be law-abiding citizens living in the Central Florida Area and
must be at least 18 years of age.

and can be sent via standard mail. Applications must be received at OPD by
WEDNESDAY APRIL 2, 2008.
