SUMMARY:
The Orlando Police Department Awards Ceremony is scheduled on a bi-monthly basis
to honor those receiving Department awards, along with employees who are
retiring or being promoted.
The Awards Program provides for positive reinforcement when employees perform
their duties in an exemplary manner or with extraordinary compassion, bravery,
or courage. This program also provides the Department an opportunity to
recognize citizens for their assistance to our employees, the Department, and
the community.
In addition to other awards, Chief Val Demings will be recognizing:
Officers for performing life saving CPR on an unconscious victim as well as
saving a suicidal woman.
Two high school students will be awarded School Resource Unit College
Scholarships.
Two officers will be recognized for their efforts in assisting a woman in
labor to deliver her baby on the shoulder of the East/West Expressway.
One Sergeant and two officers will be recognized for their dedicated
involvement with the Kickoff for Operation Positive Direction.
The Awards Ceremony will take place in the Orlando Police Department Auditorium
at 9:00 A.M. The auditorium is located on the lobby level of the Orlando Police
Department.
This ceremony is open to members of the media and the public. Immediately
following the ceremony, there will be a reception in the Hall of Honor.
