CRIME FREE MULTI HOUSING INITIATIVE
The Orlando Police Department is excited to announce the implementation of the
Crime Free Multi Housing (CFMH) Program. CFMH is a certified program which
partners with rental property owners, residents and law enforcement personnel in
an effort to eliminate crime in multi-housing properties. It is active in over
2000 cities worldwide. CFMH is designed to help tenants, owners, and managers of
rental properties keep drugs and other illegal activity off their property. CFMH
is a unique three part approach.
Phase One - Eight-hour training seminar for managers.
Phase Two – Certification- the rental property has met the
security requirements for the tenants' safety.
Phase Three- Tenant Crime Prevention meeting.
Once all phases are completed, managers will be able to place signage on their
property advertising their participation in the program. Some properties where
the CFMH program has been implemented have shown a reduction of crime up to 70%.
Other benefits enjoyed by participants of the program are lower maintenance and
repair costs, increased property values, improved personal safety for tenants,
landlords and managers, and increased demand for rental units with a reputation
for active management.
The Orlando Police Department is proud to announce that 40 communities in the
City of Orlando attended our 1st Phase One training session.
We invite any rental community
interested in participating in the CFMH Program to contact the Crime Prevention
Division at 407-246-2461.
