NIGHT OUT-2010

NOW AND BE A PART OF THE CELEBRATION!!
City officials, the Orlando Police Department and Orlando Fire Department, will
participate in the 27th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 3, 2010.
Any neighborhood, community group, church, sorority/fraternity, or
Apartment/Condominium community is invited to contact the Neighborhood Watch
Unit at the Orlando Police Department NOW to receive information on National
Night Out 2010.
There is no cost to register. Once registered with the Orlando Police
Department, local coordinators receive an organizational kit full of ‘how-to’
materials including planning suggestions, artwork, and promotional guides.
NNO 2009 involved over 36 million people in 14,625 communities from all 50
states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide. The
City of Orlando and the Orlando Police Department are pleased to announce that
Orlando was once again selected as a National Award winner for its outstanding
participation in the 26th Annual National Night Out crime, drug and violence
prevention program. NNO 2010 is expected to be the largest ever. Once again this
year, Target is a national corporate sponsor.
This community-oriented event, sponsored by the National Association of Town
Watch brings neighbors together for a crime and safety awareness night.
Neighborhood Watch groups around the city will hold rallies within their
neighborhood to increase crime awareness in their community. Along with the
traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, most neighborhoods celebrate
National Night Out with a variety of special events such as block parties,
cookouts, parades, festivals, visits from local officials and law enforcement,
and youth events.
