National Public Safety
Telecommunications Week
The Orlando Police Department will be celebrating National Public
Safety Telecommunication Week from April 10th - 16th, 2011. This
national week of celebration was established by Congress in October
1991 to recognize the dedicated men and women who provide invaluable
public safety services to their communities.
In 2010, the Orlando Police Emergency Communications Specialists
answered over 2251,743 emergency and 444,741 non-emergency telephone
calls. They are truly the first responder!
Too often the importance of Telecommunications personnel goes
unrecognized and their services are taken for granted. For their
hard work and dedication to the citizens of Orlando, we proudly
salute them!
Fun and exciting events
are planned throughout the week concluding with the annual 911
Appreciation Picnic being held on Saturday, April 16th from 11-3
p.m. at the Orlando Operations Center. There will be an
Open House on Friday, April 15th. Contact the Orlando Police
non-emergency line at (321) 235-5300 to schedule a tour.
