NOW HIRING
9-1-1 Emergency Communications Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS
To become an Emergency Communication Specialist (ECS), you must meet the
following minimum requirements:
18 years of age
Have a high school diploma or GED
Have no felony convictions or have a history where your integrity is in
question
Have not used illegal drugs in the last twelve months
HIRING PROCESS
Complete an online application
Pass typing test with at least 25 correct words per minute
Pass the Public Safety Telecommunicator Test
Pass practical tests
Pass polygraph examinations
Pass background investigations
Pass formal interview
Pass medical examination including drug screening
BENEFITS
SALARY: The starting salary for an ECS is $13.25 per hour, or
$27,560.00 annually. There is a $.90 per hour shift differential for hours
worked during evening or midnight shifts. Time and a half is paid for hours
worked over 40 per week.
SHIFTS: Employees work rotating shifts that include Midnights (11 p.m.
- 7 a.m.), Days (7 a.m. - 3 p.m.), and Evenings (3 p.m. - 11 p.m.). Shifts are
subject to change.
VACATION: Three weeks of paid vacation per year and six paid holidays.
TRAINING: 6 - 8 weeks of classroom and 12 - 14 weeks of structured
on-the-job training. Generally requires three years to complete training in all
positions.
INSURANCE: Variety of insurance options available. Dependent coverage
is available at an additional cost to the employee.
RETIREMENT: 401(a) Defined Contribution Retirement Plan. Fully vested
at 6 years of service. Early retirement after 10 years of service or 55 years of
age. Variety of investment options available.
UNIFORMS: Provided after the completion of 6 months of employment.
TUITION REIMBURSEMENT: Up to $1400.00 a year.
