Incident: On July 13, 2015, at approximately 2:43a.m. an Orlando Police Officer was working extra duty at the McDonald’s located at 5400 S. Kirkman Road. The officer conducted a traffic stop at Kirkman Road and Vineland Street on a silver four door vehicle. As the officer approached the vehicle, the passenger door opened and the passenger fled on foot. The officer attempted to stop the passenger by moving around the vehicle. As the officer moved, the driver accelerated towards the officer and ran the officer over. After striking the officer, the driver continued to flee the scene without stopping. The officer did fire his weapon. The driver and passenger are both still at large. We do not have any suspect description.
The officer is in stable condition. The entire incident was caught on the officer’s dash camera and will be released at a later time.
