Please find links to two videos regarding the Officer Involved Shooting that occurred on North Lane on 1/16/2016. The two videos you will find are body worn camera from Officer Jonathan Mills’ camera, and surveillance video from one of the businesses on North Lane.
The videos give you two different vantage points of the moments leading up to Officer Mills discharging his firearm.
Update 2: Officer Involved Shooting
Incident: On January 16, 2016, at approximately 12:05 am, TAC officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white charger, occupied by 3 suspects at 5100 North Lane. The officers exited their vehicle as the charger began reversing in an attempt to flee from the officers. The TAC officers approached the vehicle, however, the driver continued to advance forward nearly striking one of the officers. The officer fired his weapon. The driver fled the scene and crashed into an vacant home at 4880 Stoney Brook Lane.
The driver, is identified as Trevon A. Lamons, 6-3-98. He was later apprehended and transported to the hospital. He is in stable condition.
Two suspects are outstanding
The officer was not injured during the encounter.
The white charger was stolen out of OCSO Jurisdiction
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is conducting the Officer Involved Shooting investigation. As a standard procedure, the officer is on paid administrative leave. There is no additional information available at this time; updates will be provided as it becomes available.
