The Vehicles for Hire (VFH) Unit was established in October 1999. Its mission is to regulate and govern all taxis, limousines, shuttles, and any other vehicle for hire. They perform specialized investigative work enforcing Orlando City Code, under general supervision of the Vehicles for Hire Administrator and Tow Enforcement Administrator. They oversee the approval of towing property contracts and reviews reports and results obtained for adequacy and compliance with City policy.
The Vehicles for Hire Unit issues Orange County Uniform Citation to unlicensed taxicabs and “for-hire” operators and licensed operators who violate city code. They also participate in the vehicle inspections and taximeter testing. The VFH Unit adheres to a fair and inclusive permitting process including pre-application process, package review and permit issuance, including criminal history checks, finger printing, packages sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Applicants are required to complete their application packets including a criminal history record forwarded to the unit by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. They are required to assemble all of the information for their packets themselves prior to submission.
They also coordinate with the Orlando Police Department and the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority regarding enforcement of taxis, towing and vehicles for hire. Please submit all permitting requirement questions or concerns to email@example.com or contact their office at 407.246.2845. The office is located at Orlando Police Headquarters located at 100 S.
