Summit Apartments 2007 Litter Index ResultsAccording to results of the Keep America Beautiful Litter Index, Keep Orlando Beautiful, the City of Orlando, and its citizens are successful in litter prevention and reduction throughout the city. Keep Orlando Beautiful staff, board members, and City Commissioners from District 3 (Robert Stuart), District 4 (Patty Sheehan), District 5 (Daisy W. Lynum), and District 6 (Samuel B. Ings) all participated in assessing litter. Those evaluating the litter were first trained on how to score the district sub-areas. They were then driven through their districts. Overall, Orlando was rated a 1.19 on a scale from 1-4 (range: 1=extremely clean to 4= extremely littered). Last year the overall rating was at 1.38. Here are the ratings by districts: District 1: 1.06 This is the seventh year the Litter Index has been administered. Four of the six districts saw less litter than the previous year. The Litter Index is a program designed to evaluate litter amounts throughout Keep America Beautiful affiliate cities. When administered correctly, the system can accurately identify problem areas that may have been previously overlooked or can provide affiliates with useful data for future cleanup projects.
