Keep Orlando Beautiful (KOB) works in tandem with City departments, outside agencies, and the OPD Gang Enforcement team to aggressively locate and remove graffiti. We encourage citizens to help and participate in our program.  You can find the graffiti hotline number and link to our online form below.

What is Graffiti?

Graffiti is any inscription, word, figure, painting or other defacement that is written, marked, etched, scratched, sprayed, drawn, painted, or engraved on any public or private surface without the owner’s permission.

Graffiti Facts

  • Immediate removal, within 24-48 hours, is successful in graffiti prevention

  • Gang graffiti makes up approximately 10% of graffiti in US cities

  • 50 to 70% of all street-level graffiti is created by suburban adolescents, predominately males between the ages of 12 and 19

Graffiti Prevention Tips

For Businesses:

  • Remove graffiti within 24 to 48 hours

  • Plant shrubs, thorny plants, and vines to restrict access

  • Add or improve lighting around the building by incorporating motion-sensored lighting

  • Install fences, controlled entrances and exits, rails, and other barriers around property

  • Limit access to roofs by moving dumpsters or other structures away from walls

  • Post security camera(s) and/or surveillance signage

  • Use graffiti resistant materials or coatings on continuously hit walls

For Homeowners:

  • Ask your association to install lighting in neighborhood areas that are dark and often hit with graffiti

  • For condos and apartments, work with residential property owners to incorporate graffiti prevention tips mentioned above into building security

  • Organize a Neighborhood Watch to help law enforcement keep tabs on criminal activity in your neighborhood
