Administration The wastewater division's administration
group consists of various inter-related disciplines; including process
& operations management of the division's water reclamation
facilities, engineering & support functions of the division's field
applications and multiple projects, office management and support
activities, safety & training tasks, and many other division-related
functions.
Environmental Control
The Environmental Control Section serves the City of Orlando in a
multitude of ways. Their primary role is to support the Environmental
Services Department's Wastewater Process and Operations group with
implementing and operating programs required by the United States
Environmental Protection Agency and Florida Department of Environmental
Protection. Programs such as 1) Industrial Waste Pretreatment,
Surcharge, Oil & Grease Prevention, Aboveground and Underground Fuel
Storage Tanks and Reclaimed Water.
Also, the Environmental Control Section supports the division with administration, implementation and daily
operation of the City's Comprehensive Environmental Management System (C.E.M.S.).
This system is a three (3) tiered approach to continually improve the
City's environmental performance through the use of environmental
audits, periodic compliance inspections and employee and public
awareness training.
In addition the Environmental Control Section assists City Departments
by providing guidance with regard to environmental issues such as
environmental assessments and environmental cleanups.
Business Management
The Business Management Program (343) accomplishes a variety of tasks.
Included in these responsibilities are providing ordering and
warehousing supplies for field staff; GIS
mapping of the sanitary gravity, force main and reclaim databases;
records archiving, engineering/cadastral support to the Division and
plans review for new construction and
sanitary sewer designs.
Assesses and implements the wastewater fee for residential and
commercial properties served by the City's Sewer system. Provides
customer assistance with billing questions and service related problems
while serving as City liaison between the public and OUC.

Lift Stations The Lift Station Section oversees the
operation of 203 Lift Stations throughout the Orlando area. The capacity
of these stations vary from a station with only one pump that pumps 50
gallons a minute to a station containing eight pumps that pump 2750
gallons per minute for each pump. The 22 Lift Station section employees
do all the mechanical, electrical, lawn maintenance and painting at all
these stations.
Sewer Evaluation and Maintenance
The primary purpose of S.E.M. is to protect
and enhance the environment by providing a safe and efficient
transportation of wastewater through it collection system from its
clients. S.E.M. is responsible for maintaining the sewer system in our
neighborhood collection sewers and large sewers within the community
with the skills and experience of our work force.
